Was The Girl Group, Gyrl, Really Founded By R. Kelly?
Shortly after the late R&B singer, Aaliyah, had loosened ties and acknowledgment of any romantic ties to fellow singer, R. Kelly, a girl group, reminiscent of Aaliyah emerged.
They were simply known as Gyrl and was most noted for the song, "Play Another Slow Jam".
People had said for years that R. Kelly had founded the group and was taken aback in relevance to how much the young women looked like a "love lost", ergo Aaliyah.
Interesting how many thought the same. Many thought that one Aaliyah was enough and all else would be carbon copies or dough cut from the same cutter. Perhaps that was the reason why the group was so short lived while Aaliyah had moved on to stardom until her untimely demise.
