This says a lot about how consumers view the diva and her mother’s
sense of style.
The House of Dereon collection designed by Beyonce and her
mother, Tina, hasn’t been fairing well in the retail industry. Much of the collection
can be purchased for pennies on the dollar at the following: City Trends, Super Savor
and Show Carnival/Show. Who would have thunk it (especially considering the Beyonce's popularity)? These retail stores are normally considered the “value village”
or “thrift shops” for the fashionably
challenge.
To compensate for the fledgling sales, Tina tried,
no avail,to come up with a cheaper line, a Dereon derivative, to market at Wal-Mart retailers across the
nation. One of her campaign stops was Atlanta
in the area known as Camp Creek.
Unfortunately, before the line could make its
way into Wal-Mart, the money to invest was depleted.
Why? Beyonce had took the money and spent it on bills,
mortgage, payroll administration, that she was behind on.
